thanks to wizbang for pointing out a very interesting post at willisms, discussing the "babe theory of political movements." i have to say, they seem to have a pretty good point. maybe it makes me shallow, but wouldn't you (unless you're a girl, or gay) want to follow them? my personal favorite is the one shown below:
(click picture for more from willisms)
does this make me shallow? maybe. but since there were more people in beirut (around 800,000) protesting the syrian occupation of lebannon than there were around the world protesting on the 2 year "anniversary" of the start of the war in iraq, i think it makes me a realist. but whether you agree with me or not, you should definitely check out the original post; like i said, its a very interesting theory.

up and running?
the answer is a definite maybe. the computer help desk here at whitworth attached the following note to my computer (rough quote): "We do not support fixing this type of problem. Windows needs a rebuild." which i think just meant that they had no clue what was wrong.
so i reinstalled windows. again. that's about 3 times now in as many weeks. but i think it actually worked this time. the first thing i did after reconnecting to the internet was to reinstall the whitworth symantec antivirus client, along with ad-aware and spybot. they didn't pick up anything major, so i think i'm good. as we speak (or as i type, or whatever... figure of speech and all that), taskmanager and msconfig are working again, which is glorious.
and now, i'm off to finish some reading and watch "the incredibles", which i hear is a great movie. farewell for now.

quote of the moment
"Oderint dum metuant" (Let them hate, as long as they fear); this just happens to fit very nicely on the new rott shirts. they're pretty cool, but my personal favorite is this one.

home at last
All days that are today are days that Spring Break starts
All days that are this day are days that are today

All days that are this day are days that Spring Break starts => AAA-1 (valid)
very sloppy, and pretty much useless, but i figured hey, what the heck. may as well put all that logic stuff i crammed into my head to some use.
as the subject line suggests, i am now home for spring break. though i would have preferred having it later in the semester, i was definitely ready for some time off from school. on that note, i am now going to bed, and getting up whenever i feel like it. g'night all.

more ridiculousity
there's been a lot of it over the last few days, but i think this has to be some of my favorite: IKEA is a bunch of sexist bastards. either that, or some PC police got bored.

posting again?
it can only mean one thing: i have homework that i don't want to do. well, technically its a midterm paper, but whatever. i still don't want to do it.
on that note, why is it that republicans are constantly being called evil, etc.? it seems to me that the really angry people are democrats, like howard dean and this guy from florida.

so much for that homework thing?
why must my friends be such huge nerds? and why must i be so similar to them?
i think the description of me is a bit off, but i was actually pulling for the d6. let the humiliation begin.

i'll take things that don't work for $400, alex
"this object has been consistently raped, ravaged, and exploited by various viruses and spyware over the last several weeks. as such, it is slowly ceasing to work, and will be taken in to be fixed in the near future."
"what is daniel's computer?"
"that is absolutely correct. $400 and control of the board go to you, and our pity goes to daniel. or maybe his computer; we're not sure which one is worse off."
i think my computer is worse off than i am. its sole purpose in "life" is to compute, and if it doesn't have that, it doesn't have anything. on the other hand, without my computer's ability to compute, i might actually be able to get some homework done instead of playing KOTOR 2 for hours on end.

again with the stupid quizzes
and yet i keep taking them.
I taste like beef. I'm probably made of beef. You are what you eat, they say, and if the title didn't mean something else, I would be a beefeater. I think red meat is good for you. Puts hair on your chest. What Flavour Are You? |

and now, back to more important things. like homework.

random note
i found this article very amusing.
i also found this quote very amusing: "Whoa! Crap. That is an angry fish." --Andrew
i do not, however, find the homework that i still need to do very amusing at all.

its better, i think
we'll find out in a bit. my computer, as i've complained about on numerous occasions, was experiencing technical difficulties. so, instead of taking it into the computer help desk (last time i did that, they had my computer for 3 days, and all they did was run the fixblaster and fixwelcia tools), i decided it needed a deep clean. so i formatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows. its running a lot smoother now, although for some reason taskmanager still isn't working. if anybody knows what's going on with that, i'd appreciate the help. until then, i'm going to be reinstalling stuff. wish me luck.
